Hey, guys! Just thought I'd pop in and feature some of the movies and things that are coming out this year! 2012 is looking to be a wonderful movie year from what I can tell <333

The Secret World of Arrietty

In Theaters tomorrow

This one is by Studio Ghibli and shall I mention, has an AMAZING soundtrack. I'm a person who has so many instrumental scores for movies on her iPod and this one is one of my top favorites to listen to. I don't know much about the actual story because I never read the book it was based off of (The Borrowers by Mary Norton), but I don't think you really need to know of it to enjoy it. Besides, spoilers are kind of life ruiners anyways. (btw my life is complete! I'm getting the poster for this movie from the theater for my wall <333)

Please go take a chance and see it while it's in theaters now!

The Lorax

Coming to theaters March 2

Coming to you from the awesome creators of Despicable Me and the story by Dr. Seuss. Gosh this film just looks so colorful and wonderful I just want to eat it up like candy. Admittedly, I never read The Lorax as a child or really ever. I know what you're thinking "Evil!" "Sin!" "Burn her! Burn her!" but I'll just tell you I can't help that I was deprived of such a story. Our Dr. Seuss books were limited in elementary school daycare and that's where I read most of my books in the afternoons. But as for the movie, I'm just so excited for this! For the visuals, the story which I'll finally become familiar with, and Danny Devito! Come on, who doesn't enjoy Danny Devito? So see this movie if you can! It's coming out soon enough and I'm sure it'll be absolutely wonderful <33

John Carter

Coming to theaters March 9

I know next to absolutely nothing about what this film is about. I just know it's Disney and it's a different sort of movie that they've been trying to do for a long time that I think some of you may be interested in seeing since it's a sort of sci-fi film. Although the posters make me think of Prince of Persia all over again (Which is a good movie yes, but the characters just remind me of PoP is what I mean). Either way, I'm gonna give it a shot :D

The Hunger Games

Coming to theaters this March 23

Now if you haven't read The Hunger Games, then I advise you to read it as soon as possible because it's seriously an amazing series. If you want to wait for the movie then you're lucky it's coming just next month, now aren't you? You've probably heard of people fangirling and fanboying about it for a while now and know the premise (If not read the premise and then watch the trailer which is very telling as well) so I'm not going to try and start explaining it. Just know that I have high hopes for this movie and I'm sure it's going to be incredible. Even if it turns out to be a flop (Please PLEASE don't!), I will probably buy the soundtrack to it if the rest of the musical score is awesome as the trailer's music. Oh my God, EARGASMS I TELL YOU!

Snow White and the Huntsman

Coming to theaters this June 1

Now this one, I'm just curious about because I'm wondering if it'll turn out like Alice in Wonderland 2010 (which I love ). I know it has Kristen Stewart and people hate her, but I actually think she's actually pretty cool off-screen and I'm willing to give her a chance. I think it's hardly the fault of the actor for taking on a role like that since it's their job. Now some of you may not like retellings but I love seeing different versions of a story and seeing what they share and what new directions they may take you. I look forward to seeing how this one pans out (and if you'd like I'll write a small journal to tell you if it's a "Yay" or "Nay" :)

Brave

Coming to theaters June 22

I haven't really said anything on here (at least I don't think so), but I have been SUPER excited for this movie since the beginning of last year. I've been picking up concept art for it and any news and I just can NOT wait for it to come out! I'm hoping to get the movie poster even to hang on my wall. From what I've gathered (I've tried to keep myself in the dark as much as I could) it's about Pixar's arguably first princess (Princess Atta people? Rememeber?), but the principle relationship we focus on in the story is the conflict between the mother and the daughter which I find extremely cool because I don't know if there is a Princess movie of Disney's that isn't about the romance mainly. Love the Disney Princesses to death but it's really refreshing that the story focuses more on familial relationships than romantic. Plus Princess Merida's a tomboy who kicks ass with her archery skills! What's not to love? And that it's set in Scotland! One of my top places to go to before I die would be Scotland (and Ireland and England, let's just say UK) so the fact that the movie's exploring that setting excites me to no end~

ParaNorman

Coming to theaters August 17

One of the Summer movies for this year (same month as my birthday!) and I honestly don't have much to say on it since there isn't much I know about it besides it's stop-motion (which always fascinates me), directed by Christ Butler of Coraline and Sam Fell of The Tale of Desperaux, and is most likely to be a strange yet awesome film.

Rise of the Guardians

Coming to theaters November 21

Sorry I'm not using the actual poster, but I couldn't find it with a width that was less than 300 pixels. Now here's Dreamworks new film for the year that isn't a sequel (Please, no Madagascar after this one. Pleeease?) and I'm honestly looking forward to it because it looks intriguing. The character designs draw me in and the fact that it seems like a Christmas related film just piques my curiosity. I'm looking forward to seeing more on this movie as the year goes on and we get closer to the release date :)

The Hobbit

Coming to theaters December 14

I can't believe I forgot this one momentarily while trying to put together this list. I mean this is in my top THREE movies to see this year so I'm just aghast I forgot it while I was writing this (but then again it was at the very end of the movie list so I wasn't reminded). Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this one. First of all, MARTIN FREEMAN. I don't think that needs explaining, he's just that awesome. Second, I remember as a kid how I would watch the old animated version of the Hobbit and I remember enjoying it even though it was full of things that would've scared the crap out of me as a kid. I'm surprised I sat through it every single time since I couldn't stand Troll in Central Park. And third, Lord of the Rings is one of my most favorite movie trilogies and so I look forward to seeing the Hobbit. And Martin Freeman.

Now here's where I end my journal because my hands are getting tired from all this typing. Others I would have added to the list are The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers which I honestly should have added instead of John Carter and Snow White, but what can you do?

Also coming out this year as so many of you know is
LEGEND OF KORRA!! <333

Yes, it's going to be a fantastic year of pure theatrical pleasure.

I'm excited to see so many of these movies!
For some reason, I've noticed a resurgence with fairy-tale stories in Hollywood and on TV for the past couple of years; we've had Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, an adaptation of Red Riding Hood (horrible as it was) and we've started seeing programs like Grimm and Once Upon a Time which are based on multiple tales. What's more, there are going to be two Snow White movies released this year. I'm not unhappy about this, it's just a pattern I'm noticing... It's a bit like rising the popularity of comic book character movies.
