_{I’m extremely late for the whole drawing concepts for Mako and Bolin’s parents bandwagon, but better late than never, right? I’m just going to get my heart crushed whenever/if ever they reveal them on the show anyways

So, let me introduce you to Kazuo and Mei Lin. I’m still trying to figure out my headcanons about them, but for sure I think of them as nonbenders because of how they were brought down by a single firebender. I like to think of Kazuo being a very charming sort of guy. He has a bit of a short fuse for the small things because of his lack of patience (like figuring out how to fix a radio or put together furniture), but Mei Lin usually knows how to calm him down or put him in his place. She’s the one who has patience in spades although a bit less of a social butterfly than her husband. She’ll prefer to stay quiet for most social situations, but when she’s with those she’s close to, talking is no problem. She loves telling the boys bedtime stories that she spins off the top of her head, and Kazuo would often jump in and they’d act out the stories together for the boys.

And I could go on and on about ideas for these two and Mako and Bolin, but I’ll stop it right there. I’ll probably be drawing a lot more of them and illustrating some more headcanons later on. <33

Also I just wanted to mention how much fun I had trying to combine some Mako and Bolin traits into these two. I know I could have gone and pushed it all further, but I got attached to these two. ;; I tried to give Kazuo a more Bolin-esque build with all those muscles (I tried to make it work for facial shape but I think I failed at that one epically pfff), but Mei Lin got a lot more of the Bolin facial features. Even though, she has a more Mako-ish facial structure.

I definitely could have mixed it up even more but I like these two and I hope you do too c:}

Amazing. You did a wonderful job with Kazuo and Mei Lin. I'm officially considering these two as Mako and Bolin's parents; no other artist's versions of their parents shall be seen as such. And for headcanons I'd like to think that Mako and Bolin had a close relationship with a single parent, with Mako it was Kazuo and for Bolin it's Mei Lin. I'd like to think that the boys would find it a bit awkward in bonding with their other parent when they needed to, but when they did it would be really heartwarming.

this is so adorable!! but, they dont necesarily have to be non benders, they could have just simply been taken down by one firebender if they were trying to protect their children!!! (xD like in Harry Potter!! XD))
